Word of the Day is the game I submitted to the my first ever game jam, the Game Maker’s Tool Kit (GMTK) 2019 jam, where it ended up winning 2nd place overall. It was made over the course of 48 hours using Processing. If you click the embed you can go to the game's download page, and if you press the button you can go to the ranking page.
At some point in the future, I would like to try and use this game to help young readers, or those with dyslexia. My reasoning is that, since it forces you to engage with language in a different way than normal and allows you to have fun choosing your own path, young readers might be able to connect more strongly with the story than with traditional methods of learning.
If you aren't able to play the game yourself, but would still like to get an idea of what it looks like (and what my sense of humor is), I've uploaded a YouTube video below showing one of the possible paths through the game.
